Essential oils. They might be thought of as a little bit alternative and only for hippies - but I love them. I'm often using them at home in my diffusers - but they're also one of my travel must haves (as mentioned in my Top Tips for Minimising Jet Lag post).
As I'm just about to head back home after my recent adventures in London and Capri, I thought now was the perfect time to share my top five essential oils for travelling.
Calming and relaxing, lavender is one of the most commonly used essential oils - and all for good reason. Lavender is a great all rounder with a ride range of uses - so it's the perfect essential oil to travel with.
Add a few drops to your pillow when travelling to help you relax and improve your quality of sleep. Lavender is also great for calming kids down and relieving travel anxiety.
Headaches are incredibly common when travelling - and peppermint oil is a great natural remedy. Add some peppermint essential oil to your temples using a roll on (or add a drop to your fingertips and rub it in) to relieve headaches.
Peppermint also helps to improve mental focus and clarity and is a great pick-me-up in times of stress or anxiety.
It doesn't smell good, but it does work! Dab a few drops of valerian oil, put on some socks and you'll be fast asleep before you know it!
A Muscle Relief Blend
Sometimes when we're on holidays we think we're superheroes and we overdo it a bit. Hiking? Sure! Skiing? Count me in! Theme parks? Yes please! But whilst plenty of fun was had - you may be feeling achey and sore the next day.
A natural muscle relief blend like this one is great to pack in your suitcase for when you've overdone it but still want to keep on going!
I think we all know that citronella is perfect for keeping mosquitos at bay. When travelling to warm climates or places where mosquitos are a-plenty, citronella oil is a great oil to pack. You can also opt for a repellant blend (like this one) if you don't want to smell like straight citronella!
