My First Cryotherapy Experience at CRYO Edgecliff

With Swedish heritage, I should be used to the cold. But facing sub zero temperatures in just my underwear? Maybe not!

Inside CRYO Edgecliff - What It's Like to Have a Cryotherapy Treatment

Last week I headed to CRYO Edgecliff for my very first Cryotherapy Treatment. I arrived to find a very sci-fi like environment.

With glass doors and circular booth seating and blue LED lights grabbing your attention, I felt like I was on the set of Tron Legacy or the Matrix and didn't really know what to expect next!

Luckily the CRYO Edgecliff team weren't sci-fi super villains and were incredibly warm and welcoming - quickly leading me to the changerooms to get ready for my treatment.

Before your treatment you have to remove all clothing and jewelry, keeping just your underwear and socks on (you can wear a bra but it has to be wire free - so a sports bra is the perfect option!).

Whilst you're in the changeroom, you're shown a quick instructional video which explains the process - and you sign a waiver before the treatment.

Before you head over to the treatment room, you're given a robe, slippers and gloves to put on. You take the robe off before stepping into the cryo chamber, keeping your slippers and gloves on to keep your hands and feet warm.

Once you're in the chamber, the treatment starts and the countdown is on! As it was my first treatment, it was only 2 minutes - but you can stay in there for up to 3 minutes for a full treatment.

Once you're in there, the time flies as you're talking to the technician and moving around. Once you get out, you feel absolutely invigorated. I am someone who likes instantaneous results and CRYO certainly delivered.

I felt amazing, my sore muscles from travel and working out were completely alleviated and I felt fresh and revived. That night I slept the best I had slept in years and I woke up feeling even better - even the whites of my eyes were noticeably brighter.

Cryotherapy has been found to burn around 500-900 calories per session and is great for jet lag, relieving muscle soreness from workouts, helping to improve the appearance of cellulite, boosting weight loss and so much more. It's even thought that regular cryotherapy treatments may reduce the signs of ageing - perhaps the fountain of youth was more of an iceberg after all ;)
