The Investment Coat
On a bright Wednesday morning in September, I was invited into the beautiful home of the late Carla Zampatti to view the new Spring collection. It was the most gorgeous, sunny day and the home was filled with warmth. I have always been a fan of the brand, since I was very young, with memories of my childhood of my mother looking oh so glamorous in a Carla design getting ready to go somewhere fabulous. Throughout the years I have purchased several Carla outfits, always for a special occasion, and they have always made me feel incredible. I have treasured them and wear them regularly, as they always seem to be the most perfect go-to ensembles! This new updated coat is my favourite go-to for Spring. A classic cut in a super luxurious fabric that can be worn a multitude of ways. Perfect with a pair of jeans, a gorgeous silk dress, or even nothing underneath!
Wednesday was bitter-sweet, with Carla no longer at the helm, I was curious to see if her essence would live on. The collection did not disappoint. In fact, I have no doubt Carla would be smiling down with great pride that her ‘look’ lived on so spectacularly! New Head Designer Karlie Ungar has managed a very difficult transition and designed a cool, chic collection that embodies everything Carla stood for - the independent, modern woman. Clothes not only my daughters could wear, but clothes my mother and myself would choose. Being able to dress 3 generations of women says a lot about the ethos of the brand, and it’s legacy. Long live the ‘Carla Woman’!
