An Autumn Inspired Table Setting

Whilst I may not love the cold, I love the colours of Autumn. Lately I've been noticing the trees outside my window turn from lush and green to a beautiful shades of orange, yellow and red as the temperature continues to drop. Crunchy, colourful Autumn leaves are what inspired this tablescape, which would be perfect for everything from Thanksgiving celebrations to a comforting Sunday roast with the family.

The beautiful Autumn coloured roses were the perfect centerpiece for this table setting, however, if you can't find roses, you could use dahlias, chrysanthemum, begonia or something in a similar colour palette.

I went for a formal table setting which included:

Rattan Place Mat (linked below)
Round White Dinner Plate
Round White Entree Plate
White Oval Side Plate
Napkin (this design would work perfectly)
Cutlery for Entree, Main and Dessert
Red Wine Glass
White Wine Glass
Water Glass

The table cloth and napkins really tied the whole table together. When opting for a bold printed table cloth, make sure you also use matching napkins or a neutral colour - or do the reverse and go for a bold napkin and neutral table cloth if you can't find anything to match.

You could also use autumn printed cotton fabric from your local craft store to make your own napkins and tablecloths. I also love round rattan style place mats (you'll see them in many of my table settings), so I also included them in this table. Below are some of my favourites.

I also added lots of candles to my table setting, held in rustic wooden logs. You can purchase these candle holders (I've found quite a few below which you can click on to shop/find out more), or you can make them yourself with a holesaw and old tree branches/logs.

Whatever you do, make sure you use unscented candles on your table. This makes sure you don't overwhelm your guests with scents or have too many conflicting scents when your food is served.

For the place settings, I kept things simple - using smaller branch cuttings to act as a place card holder (simply cut a slice out of the top with a saw) and cutting leaves out of brown cardboard. I then wrote each guest's name with a gold marker and slipped it into the place card holder.

And there you have it - a simple table setting that is sure to impress.
