Sneaker Etiquette: When is it Acceptable to Wear Sneakers?
Sneakers. They’re comfortable, they’re functional and they can be really cute – but when and where can you acceptably wear them?
As sneakers become more chic and grace the pages of fashion magazines around the world, the sneaker etiquette lines seemed to have blurred – but here are my top tips to help you know what’s right and what’s wrong.
If it feels wrong, it probably is
You've just seen a bunch of celebrities pairing Nikes with ballgowns at the Oscars - but it just feels weird to you. This is when I say it's best to go with your gut.
If you're feeling like sneakers are too casual - they probably are. Switch them out for shoes that feel more appropriate for the occasion.
When pairing sneakers with a dress or a skirt, remember that simple is best!
Sneakers and dresses or skirts can make for a cute casual look - but you want to keep things simple.
Make sure you don't overdo it by pairing your outfit with multicoloured or distracting sneakers. Try a solid colour or even a lace-less slip on sneaker to bring the look together.

Try cuffing your jeans when pairing them with sneakers to elongate your legs and bring more attention to your sneakers.
Wear the right socks
You can have the fanciest sneakers in the world - but your socks can make or break the ensemble. Try no-show or ankle socks to make sure the attention stays on your shoes.

The sneakers you wear for your workout probably shouldn't be the ones you wear for lunch with friends or pair with a casual outfit. Go for functional in the gym and fashionable when it comes to your outfit.
