It's officially October - and in my world, that means it's time to start thinking about Halloween.
I love any excuse for a party – and Halloween is the perfect opportunity to go crazy with decorations and have a bit of fun. Here is a simple but effective table setting you could recreate in any home – whether it’s just for your family or for celebrating with a crowd!
A few years ago, Halloween decorations were hard to come by outside of America but now they're everywhere, making it easy to create your own Halloween tablescape.
Start with a black or dark coloured tablecloth, topping it with black, white and orange accents, jack-o-lanterns, spiders and skulls. I used artificial cobwebs right across my table, adding tiny fake spiders and lining the centre of the table with a black skull candelabra and black calla lillies in metallic vases.
Each table setting features white round plates with a bright orange napkin and googly eye glasses on top. Guests find their seat by taking a peep at their place cards, watched over by the skeleton perched precariously on top of their water glasses.
The perfect tablescape for a menu of Worms and Eyeballs (spaghetti and meatballs), Vampire Repellant Toast (garlic bread) and Bloody Punch (a cranberry juice mocktail or cocktail). Finish off the night with Dirt and Worms (chocolate pudding with oreo crumbs and jelly snakes/worms) and Zombie Finger Cookies alongside plenty of laughs.
