Our Favourite Traditional Swedish Waffle Recipe

A family favourite, this is our go-to waffle recipe for the perfect waffles! A traditional Swedish recipe, this waffle batter isn't sweet - but sugar can be added if you prefer your waffles on the sweeter side! We love to top our waffles with icing sugar, nutella and fresh banana - but you can serve them with whatever you like!

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, mix together your melted butter, flour, baking powder and 1 cup of milk until you have a smooth batter.
  2. Add in your remaining 1 cup of milk, the eggs and salt and mix until combined.
  3. Heat your waffle iron, greasing well with butter or oil.
  4. Pour your waffle mixture into your preheated waffle iron, using as much as the waffle iron requires (I have a standard waffle iron which uses about 5-6 tablespoons of mix).
  5. Bake your waffles until golden brown. Check the manufacturers instructions for recommended cooking times and keep an eye on them to ensure they don't burn.
  6. Remove your waffles from your waffle iron and top with your desired toppings.

Notes

We love topping our waffles with icing sugar, nutella and fresh banana - but you can top them with whatever you like!
