French Toast with Spiced Poached Pears

The ultimate Autumn brunch, this French Toast Recipe looks impressive and tastes incredible but it's deceptively simple and perfect for a long weekend. As seen on At Home with Krissy, Victoria and Nicole.

For the French Toast
  1. Whisk together your eggs, milk, vanilla and cinnamon in a large mixing bowl until well combined.
  2. Melt half of your butter in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  3. Coat your brioche in the egg mixture, ensuring all sides are well coated.
  4. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown and crisp.
For the Poached Pears
  1. Add your pears to a large saucepan as well as all of your other ingredients.
  2. Top with enough water to cover your pears.
  3. Bring the pears to a simmer over a high heat, add a lid, reduce the heat to low and simmer for two hours.
  4. Once your pears are soft, remove from the saucepan and serve.
To Serve
  1. To a serving plate, add a quenelle of greek yogurt (or whipped cream) and add your french toast, topping with a poached pear, a drizzle of maple syrup, a sprinkle of rose petals and a sprinkle of granola or nuts.

Notes

Don't love pears? This recipe also works perfectly with apples.
